Nurses Collective provides Australian nurses and allied health professionals with an invaluable service: connection.
Founded by Registered Nurse Jackson Heilberg, the free online platform is home to professional forums, community groups and a wealth of resources tailored for nurses.
Jackson saw a gap in the industry – many young nurses lacked a space to build connections beyond their direct networks, making it difficult to find objective career support.
'I realised that many nurses, particularly those starting out, were feeling isolated. They needed a space where they could share knowledge and experiences beyond their immediate circle.'
Nurses Collective was born to fill that need, so everyone, from students to experienced nurses, can share knowledge and build a sense of community within the nursing world.
Jackson’s passion for nursing started because he was ‘drawn to the unique opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives but also the career variety and opportunity to travel'. Prior to launching Nurses Collective, he started The Nurse Break in 2019, which has become one of Australia’s largest open-access nursing blogs.
Today, Nurses Collective connects nurses across all specialties and career stages, with forum topics ranging from ‘Advice for graduates: what you wish you knew’ to articles about Professional Development opportunities. Its resource hub, produced in collaboration with several healthcare organisations, allows members to access clinical guides, CPD directories and career guidance for free.
In an online world full of distractions, Jackson set out to create a hub that provided Australian nurses with a unified and relevant experience.
'I wanted to create something that wasn’t just another social media space, but a dedicated platform for Australian nurses to share insights that are truly applicable to their practice.'
It’s central to Jackson’s mission that the platform remains a respectful and inclusive space. 'We’ve worked hard to make Nurses Collective a place where everyone feels welcome and safe to contribute, knowing their voices are heard and valued'.
Nurses Collective is changing the way that Australian nurses connect, and Bank First is proud to support this growing community of people who care.
'This platform is helping students, nurses, and professional associations learn, share and grow,' said Jackson.
