Frequently asked questions

  • What do you need to do?

If you are currently using BSB 063-784, to enable future payments, you will need to update your BSB to 704-191 with each of your providers.

Customers directly impacted by this change will have already received a letter outlining specific transactions that need to be addressed.

As we're unable to initiate this change on your behalf, you will need to request a change in payment details by contacting the appropriate authority responsible.

  • Why is this change taking place?

We partnered with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) to deliver Direct Credit and Direct Debit arrangements some time ago. Effective 22 June 2021, this arrangement will cease, meaning Bank First customers can no longer use BSB number 063-784 to manage payments.

  • Payments from your account

Examples: Paypal, bill payments for phone, electricity, insurance etc.

These payments are usually in the form of direct debits that you would have set up with the provider when you signed up for their service.

To update your Direct Debit, you will need to complete a Direct Debit Request (DDR) authority with the business or company that you wish to pay (they will provide this form) to update to Bank First BSB 704-191.

This can often be done via self-service, depending on the provider.

  • Payments to your account

Examples: salary or super payments, payments from others like friends or Medicare etc.

When you first began your job, you would have been asked to provide bank account details including your BSB so that your wages can be electronically deposited into your account. To update your Direct Credit, you will need to notify your employer or provider to update to Bank First BSB 704-191.

This can be done for teachers through the Edupay Self-Service option.

Other self-service payment in examples below:

    Telstra Dividend
    Australian Taxation Office (ATO)

  • What does this mean for me?

You will no longer be able use BSB number 063-784 to manage payments to (e.g. your pay) and from (e.g. Direct Debits like Paypal or an insurance payment) your accounts.

  • What do I need to do?
To receive payments to and from your Bank First account, you’ll need to update your payment BSB number information to 704-191 with the respective providers e.g. Paypal, your insurer, your employer etc.

We’re unable to initiate this change on your behalf, therefore you’ll need to request a change by contacting the appropriate authority who is responsible for the each payment. See below for some hints and tips.
