Bank First supports amazing nurses and allied health professionals at Mercy Health through our scholarship program.
Our 2024 recipients are Alison Murphy, Nishita Shah, Meredith Henderson, and Ann O'Neill. These women have incredible stories to share – stories of resilience, passion, and dedication to making a difference in people's lives. These four women may come from different walks of life, but they share a common goal – to make a lasting impact in the world of healthcare.
For Alison, nursing runs deep in her world, inspired by her mother's own commitment to the profession.
"My mum was a nurse. Seeing the impact she had on people's lives motivated me to follow in her footsteps. And this scholarship will help to enable me to continue making an impact just like her. What I love most about nursing, and my field, is witnessing the progress of my patients and being there for them through their whole journey. It's incredibly fulfilling."
Nishita's nursing story is one of true resilience. Juggling the demands of motherhood, work, and studies, Nishita's determination is inspiring.
"Being a mum while working and studying full-time isn't easy, but I'm determined to push through. This scholarship means the world to me. It's the boost I need to keep going, especially during these times of high cost of living pressures."
Meredith is an inspiring Dietitian and Allied Health Educator who supports both patients and other allied health professionals at Mercy.
"I'm grateful for this scholarship, which will enable me to bring innovation to the forefront. Not only can my patients achieve better health outcomes, but I can also support other allied health professionals in achieving the same for their patients.”
As a Pastoral Carer, Ann finds deep fulfillment in providing support to resident patients. Through the scholarship, she's eager to deepen her understanding and bring even more comfort to those in her care.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity this scholarship presents."
