Simon Terry - June 2018
I am very honoured to have joined the Board of Bank First earlier this year. With a new name, a strong commitment to its community and an exciting agenda ahead, Bank First is a wonderful organisation and I look forward to supporting its growth.
I am passionate about education. My mother was a teacher and I took away from my childhood and education the importance of lifelong learning, a habit that also helps account for continuing curiosity and my diverse career. I retain a connection to education as one of my other board roles is as a Council Member at Haileybury and also its newest campus, which incorporates the Haileybury Kormilda Boarding School for Indigenous students.
I have also learned along the way that to make a great contribution to community and its employees, a business must be founded in purpose. The clear purpose of Bank First, as a mutual bank, and its focus on putting community first is something that attracted me to the board.
A large part of my career has been in financial services and particularly how banks can leverage digital technologies to help their customers and to make finances easier, more accessible and more valuable. I am still working on this challenge as Head of Markets for LanternPay, a payments platform that helps deliver consumers choice and control of their care in disability, healthcare and aged care. I also help organisations with digital transformation and the changing nature of work through my business Change Agents Worldwide.
My early career helped me to understand and experience the role continuing innovation in customer experience plays in creating a sustainably successful business. The launch of ‘Home First’ is just one example of the great ways that Bank First is helping its customers understand and make the most of their financial opportunities.
