Let's help Cornish College build infinity!
As a mutual bank with a long history in education, we take our partnerships with schools, particularly our successful Teaching Initiatives Program (TIP) winners, very seriously.
So seriously in fact, that when 2025 TIP winner Cornish College told us they had 160,000 cubes to build to achieve the schools' goal of building a Level 4 Menger Sponge - the biggest in the world and worthy of a Guinness World Record, well we couldn't help but get excited.
Teacher Rhiannon Lowrey gave us the materials to build 400 cubes. Our 400 cubes will play a tiny part in contributing to the Level 4 Menger Sponge world record attempt - which involves a staggering 160,000 cubes!
We were going to ask our people to build a cube in their lunch break but then thought - why not ask our Members to help?
And that's what we did.
Once the formal meeting business was completed, Chair Simon Terry invited Cornish College teacher Rhiannon Lowrey and students Xander, Scarlett and Piper to the lectern to tell us about their project and how we could help.
If you have any 'cubees' from a recent major supermarket promotion, or would like to help Cornish College students, the school would love to hear from you.
Contact the school to find out how you can help them achieve their Menger Sponge goal!
Cornish College teacher Rhiannon Lowrey students were the stars of this year's Bank First Annual General Meeting. Their enthusiasm and passion ignited the room as they explained the project and asked for our help.
