Former Deputy Chair honoured by BCCM

Recently retired Deputy Chair Graeme Willis has been officially recognised by the Business Council of Cooperatives and Mutuals (BCCM) with his name added to the BCCM Honour Roll.

Graeme was one of 6 inductees to be honoured at BCCM's Annual Leaders' Summit.

While Graeme remains on the board of Australian Settlements Limited, in early 2025 he retired from the board of Bank First and RACV.

During his tenure at Bank First, Graeme, along with his board, was involved in major transformational change:

  • Appointment of the Bank's first female CEO - with the intent of deliberately and actively reshaping Bank First for a sustainable future.

  • Championed a strategic approach that anchored deliberately in our mutuality and sought 'difference' rather than just 'scale'.

  • Managed risk very carefully, a skill that held our bank in good stead during the global pandemic period and positioned us to pursue our bigger strategic goals.

Graeme has been much more than just a director at Bank First. He’s been a mentor to management, a connection into the broader mutual sector and he’s also been a personal sponsor and guide for me as CEO at Bank First. Michelle Bagnall

Given his depth of experience in both banking and also in the mutual sector, Graeme was one of those directors who was always called upon, who always brought insightful questions to the board and who helped management and the board think differently about how a mutual organisation can grow and prosper.
