Barwon Valley School

Female nurse or doctor getting ready for work in the morning, making to-do list, having breakfast, drinking glass of milk, before leaving for the work. Work-life balance for healthcare worker.

Team Media is a program designed to empower students in years 11 and 12 with transferable skills that will prepare them for the increasingly tech-dependent world we live in.

Team Media started as a re-engagement program, specifically for students who struggled to adapt to the new school operating procedures post-Covid.

By offering students a voice in their education program through choosing content, building digital technology skills and providing a safe space to practice drama skills, we aim to foster their confidence and engagement with their learning.

The whole school benefits through celebrating student learning via the media content created by the team.

Barwon Valley School is not a neighbourhood school and families often find it difficult to attend the school's assemblies and special events.

This program has the potential to bring our school community together by sharing content via our online learning platforms.

So far, Team Media has produced more than 30 video clips for school assembly and five episodes of BVTV - a weekly 10 minute video show that includes sign of the week, Wadawurrung word of the week, news items and 30 Second Legends talent show. All currently via personal mobile phones, an outdated iPad with free editing software.

This TIP grant will be used to upgrade equipment and enable more student involvement.
