Car Insurance FAQs
What is Agreed Value/Market Value?
Market Value isn't a pre-determined amount due to it being primarily based on the wear & tear, accessories & modifications, and kilometres travelled on your vehicle (among other things). The market value is determined by CGU at the time of a claim.
Agreed Value is an amount agreed upon by CGU and you at the time of purchasing the policy, to insure the car for the period of Insurance.
What happens if l go over 10,000kms in a year?
The 10,000km limit is relevant to a Nominated Driver Low Kilometre Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy and exceeding the 10,000km limit may result in additional premium. Please contact us to adjust your policy.
Is a learner driver covered on my car Insurance?
Yes, learners are covered.
If you have a Nominated Driver policy, learners have to be accompanied by a fully licensed driver over the age of age 25.
Is my car covered if someone else drives it?
If you have a standard policy, your car’s covered no matter who’s behind the wheel (with a few exceptions).
If you have a Nominated Driver policy, drivers under 25 aren’t covered (except learners accompanied by a fully licensed driver over the age of 25). Also, if someone’s driving and they’re not listed on your Nominated Driver policy, you’ll pay a higher excess if you make a claim.
Make sure you’ve read the PDS before you let someone else drive your car.
How do I renew my Insurance policy?
If you pay by direct debit (via BSB and account number or by VISA/Mastercard), your Insurance will automatically renew unless you cancel your policy. CGU will provide you a renewal statement 14 days before your policy restarts, to allow sufficient time for you to make updates.
If you pay your policies via BPAY, CGU will send you a new biller code with your renewal paperwork, 1 month before your policy ends. You must pay this before the due date if you wish to renew your policy.
How do I make a claim?
The quickest and easiest way to make a claim is to contact CGU directly on 13 22 94. Claims can be lodged 24 hours / 7 days a week.
Enquiries on existing claims can be made from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm local time.
