Peter Wilson - December 2017
The importance of connection.
We all want to be connected to something valuable, worthwhile and to a pursuit that enhances our purpose and self-esteem. Valued connections come in both our personal and our business lives. When our employer is on a roll, has a good reputation and is delivering its purpose statement and business objectives - we generally feel good about that and are positive about the association we experience as an employee.
Organisational brand and reputation can be fragile commodities, and are ones Boards and Senior Management must tread very carefully with. This remains true both in terms of how we manage and present ourselves, and also in ensuring that we are represented by an image that is contemporary; relevant and highly aligned to our business strategy; in step with contemporary community values; and also reflecting the type of financial institution we want to be seen to be, by our staff, our stakeholders and importantly our customers.
In that context your Board and Senior Management Team has been engaged in a comprehensive work program extending over the last two years to develop the rebrand for Victoria Teachers Mutual Bank. That work has been conscious and respectful of our great heritage but also has incorporated modern concepts and an image related to our target customer markets. We are:
Invested in You.
The Board and Senior Executive Group have worked extremely hard to produce an image, brand and name that represents who we are and where we now wish to go. It's what we want the people of our bank to feel strongly connected to, and proud of. The feedback from staff and customers is that you are - Connected.
Let's keep building on the strength of those connections into 2018 as we make Bank First our customers and employees bank of choice. I encourage you to find out more about the Bank First journey and your connection through the brochures, video and other information we have on our website bankfirst.com.au.
